Junior ManceのピアノスタイルはBud Powell系ではありますが、黒っぽい感覚が強くでたスタイルと思います。同時代では、Duke Pearson(1930-1994)やGene Harris(1932-1980)に近いのかなと思います。選曲は雑多ですが、Verveでの初リーダー作ということで有名曲を入れたのでしょう。Goodmanの1、Porterの4、Carmichaelの6などもちゃんとJunior Manceのスタイルが良く出ていると思います。全篇Ray Brownのベースが協力に下支えしています。
