ソロイストはMel Powell(p,1923-1998), Vido Musso(ts,1913-1982), Cootie Williams(tp,1911-1985), Billy Butterfield(tp,1917-1988 ), Lou McGarity(tb, 1917-1971) がとっています。曲はこの頃のGoodmanの典型的なレパートリーです。1930年代から演奏しているのは、Roll 'Em, Ida, Sing Sing Sing, One O'Clock Jumpですが、SidのDrumでこれらが聞けるのは非常に珍しく楽しいものです。新しい曲はEddie SauterとMel Powellの手によるものが多いようです。
標題曲のRoll 'EmはMary Lou Williamsが1937年に書いてGoodmanに提供したものです。A1は7分半におよぶ長尺の演奏です。C1は4日間の演奏を切り張りしたものですが、テンポの違う演奏が混ざっておりちょっと意図が不明です。
SidのドラムはKrupaとは一味も二味も違うものですが、A1の後半ではKrupa風に叩いている感じもします。tp-ts-tpと長く続くソロをバックから煽るドラムはKrupaとは違う熱狂をこのバンドに与えてくれています。
