Tommy and Jimmy Dorsey and his Orchestra

Dorsey兄弟は1928年から1935年までは共同でBig Bandを運営していましたが、1935年に分裂、1953年に合併して、兄弟が亡くなる1956年まで存在しました。Tommy Dorseyが睡眠薬の服用による窒息死したのが1956年11月のことなので、同年10月18日の演奏は最晩年の演奏ということになります。兄のJimmyは翌年までBandを維持しましたが肺癌で世を去りました。
Tommy Dorseyは何故かDuke Ellingtonと親交があったようで、何度もゲストピアニストとして招いては録音を残しています。
Mindy Carsonは1927年生まれで存命のようですが、歌手としては1960年頃に引退したようです。Dorsey楽団でいくつもの録音を残しています。
Johnny Rayは泣男として知られる歌手ですがJazz気はあまりありません。
ドラムのBuddy RichはBerigan楽団やDorsey楽団で有名になり、しばしばHarry JamesやDorsey楽団にGuest出演していました。
曲は、EllingtonのMeleyも含めてDorsey兄弟の得意曲が並んでいます。仲の良くなかった兄弟が2を歌っているのは、ちょっとやり過ぎの感があります。
