Gene Rodgers (1911-1987)は古くはKing Oliverとの録音もあるベテランです。世代的には、Art Tatum（1910）やTeddy Wilson (1912）と同世代ですが、アドリブに入った時の横に長いフレーズはHinesやTatumの影響が大きいのでしょう。またPowell等の次世代への影響なのか、逆影響なのか分かりませんが、モダンな感じのフレーズが多く聞かれますし、レパートリーもB3のような世代を超えたものもあります。Jazzの悪食の伝統なのかも知れません。
