Ellingtonの1930年前後の録音ですが、まず珍品は白人アコーディオン奏者のCornell Smelser (1902-1993) が加わって大々的にsoloを聞かせたA6でしょう。他にもBenny Payne(p) (1907-1986) とDuke Ellington がピアノデュエットを聞かせるB6やDick Robertson (1903-1979)やIrving Mills (1894-1985) の歌が聞かれるtrackなど楽しめます。

HodgesをfeatureしたWhen You're Smilingや、Mood Indigo, Rockin' Rhythmなどは後年まで演奏されたレパートリーの最初期のものです。
